Our Story

We are a California legacy in the seed conditioning industry. Our lineage traces back to 1907, when H.T. Messinger, an early pioneer to the Imperial Valley established the original seed mill on very site where our facility now stands.

Imperial Valley Milling was established in 1935 and in 1946, W. Mace Williams and his son Walter C. Williams acquired and expanded the company to process milo, flax, barley and soybeans – principle crops at the time. A fire in 1960 burnt down part of the mill but the Williams’ persevered, rebuilding from the ashes and carrying on with business.

The Bornt family bought the business in 1986, expanding the enterprise while continuing the Imperial Valley Milling Co. tradition of service and quality.

With a sharpened focus on alfalfa and other forage crops, in 1999 we expanded into international markets. Today, we proudly serve customers in over a dozen countries across North & South America, North Africa, and the Middle East.

Imperial Valley Milling Co. is dedicated to providing the highest quality, soil-ready seeds to our customers. Our long-standing relationships with customers in the Imperial Valley region and abroad are a testament to our expertise and commitment.
